This is very similar and identical in purpose to the file that an Android application written in Java would have. Android tools and will be regenerated from time to time.

If this ever doesn’t rebuild correctly I read that you can just delete it and it will be rebuilt on the next project compilation.

App Compat I'm able to compile again without any issue. Currently, you need to update your library on each new version of App Compat. from your library, you'll be able to support current and any future versions of the App Compat out-of-the-box, without being forced to release a new version of your library...

Please also make sure you have read the FAQ section on the README Ritchie, I believe this issue is related to your library.

As far as preventing the comments I don't think you can.

My recommendation is to avoid opening the designer file at all.

I am from a C# background so I find it hard to let go of Pascal case for naming my files. This messes with my OCD a little as everything is Pascal case except for a handful of drawable resources sprinkled through the solution.

change the "MSBuild project build output verbosity" to "Diagnostic".In the few cases where you might open it be sure to always save changes even if you haven't made any.If ever in doubt then add and then remove a control from the ASCX file to regenerate the designer. In Xamarin Android - How to regenerate the Resource.I tried to mark all the XML file's Build Action as "Android Resource" and still the Resource.won't get updated with new values. I grabbed these entries from a fresh new project I created in Xamarin Studio that was working, which is possibly the easiest way to do this. So after attempting to rebuild once, the file will be present in the file system, but not in the project. NOTE: You will probably want to change the build output verbosity back to normal after you find your issue. If you open the csproj of the Android project with a text editor and add these entries it seems to work. In my case, one of my controls did not have an Id so it led to the Resource. The file started updating again once I added an Id.
